Regular dental exams are an important part of preventive health care. During a dental exam, the hygienist will clean your teeth and identify gum inflammation or bone loss. The dentist or hygienist will evaluate your risk of developing tooth decay and other oral health problems, as well as a general oral cancer screening exam.
A crown is a restoration that covers, or “caps,” a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a tooth. Crowns are necessary when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings won’t solve the problem. If a tooth is cracked, a crown holds the tooth together to seal the cracks so the damage doesn’t get worse.
Dentures & Partials
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available — complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
Regular dental exams are an important part of preventive health care. During a dental exam for children, the dentist or hygienist will clean your child’s teeth and evaluate your child’s risk of tooth decay. A dental exam for children might include application of various protective measures — such as sealants or fluoride treatments — to reduce the risk of decay. A dental exam for children might also include dental X-rays or other diagnostic procedures.
Root Canal Treatments
In basic terms, a root canal treatment is removing the nerve and soft tissue inside the tooth roots and placing dental material in the cleaned out areas. When this procedure becomes necessary it’s not uncommon for patients to express concern or anxiety. This concern and anxiety is usually due to rumors, myths or misinformation. In most cases, especially if caught early, a root canal treatment can be done with little or no discomfort. Most of our patients say that their root canal appointment was much easier than they expected.
